Current term expires May 2025

Hi, my name is David Wright, and I joined the Target Range School board of Trustees in June of 2021. My wife Deidad, whom I met while working in Mexico, and I have lived in the Target Range area since we moved here in 2005. We have two children at Target Range School. I was born and raised in central California and spent a year in New Zealand as an exchange student. I have an undergraduate degree in Wildlife Science from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Forestry from Virginia Tech, and I’ve worked for the research branch of the USDA Forest Service in Seattle and Missoula for over 22 years. I have interacted and connected with a wide range of people of diverse backgrounds and cultures as I have lived, worked, and traveled extensively across the urban, rural and wildlands of this country.

My objective as a trustee is to continue to promote and support the best education and safety for the students while being fiscally and socially responsible to the district and state citizens.

I believe by investing in and supporting dedicated professionals who cultivate a respectful school environment, they will develop and implement a curriculum that enriches and nurtures all the students. By providing a comprehensive education, the students will have the opportunity to obtain the necessary life skills to respond resourcefully to opportunities and challenges during their lifetime. Additionally, I strongly believe that respectful communication is pivotal in creating the safest and best learning environment for our children.

I will continue to support and encourage the school district’s citizens and the families of the students to engage with the schoolteachers, staff, administration, and board members as we work as a community to attain knowledge excellence. Finally, I will continue to engage and learn from the community, and I will serve the school and community to the best of my ability.

Trustee Jennifer Long

Current term expires May 2026

Jennifer feels so lucky to have been a part of the Target Range neighborhood for almost 20 years and grateful to raise her three sons here (10, 14, and 16 years old). Inspired by her parents, Jennifer grew up serving and learning from her community through volunteerism. She continued this family tradition by joining the Target Range Neighborhood Planning group, Missoula Consolidated Planning Board, and Blue Mountain 4-H Club (Goat Leader), and is currently serving in her seventh year as an elected Target Range School board trustee.

Jennifer tends to be meticulous and detailed - yet she is a big picture thinker. She is an experienced board member who has guided the school through leadership transitions, facility safety and security improvements, tough budget decisions, contract negotiations, and a collaborative community-based response to the COVID pandemic.

She believes that strong human connections, active listening, and open communication makes our school resilient. Above all, she supports high-quality public education as a wise worthwhile investment in our children's and our country’s future.

In her free time, Jennifer works in wildland fire science research and enjoys hanging out with her family, gardening, and farming small livestock.

Trustee Peter Hall

Current term expires May 2027

Peter Hall grew up near Bigfork, Montana in a community like Target Range.  In 2009 he graduated with a Master of Architecture from Montana State and started working for Nick Fullerton Architects in Bigfork.  Peter worked there for a decade, and - within that time - he married and had two daughters. He and his wife lived in Wisconsin, Seattle, Anchorage, and Fairbanks as she trained to become a pediatrician and moved back to Montana in 2018. As their children started school, Peter took half a step back from architecture to start a new career in farming and child raising (drawing buildings on the side).  He worked at Winter Kissed Farm and then started his own farming venture in Target Range in 2023 with the goals of growing great food and creating an entity that will enhance the rural nature of Target Range.  In his free time, Peter enjoys fishing, hunting, mountain biking, skiing, rafting, building stuff, cooking, and spending time with his family.
